What should I do if my file upload fails?

Last updated on January 07, 2025

Follow these steps to successfully upload your file:

  1. Check if your file upload meets the submission requirements by following the guidelines in the below articles:
  2. Reduce the file size.
  3. Include a valid file extension. To check whether the file extension is supported by your journal, consult your journal's Guide for Authors. To access your journal's Guide for Authors, go to the journal homepage directly or search journals alphabetically.
    • Note: On Mac computers, these extensions (such as .doc or .tiff) are not always necessary so they may need to be added for this process.
  4. Ensure that you don't use excessive amounts of commas or hyphens in your files.
  5. Ensure that your file name contains no more than one period (including the file extension).
  6. Ensure your filenames are different, do not upload two files with the same name.
  7. Avoid symbol characters in filenames like #, $, %,or *.
  8. Limit the amount of letters and characters to under 25.
  9. For a double-blind journal, ensure files names do not include author names.
  10. Make certain that your files do not have any security settings on them.
