Publishing Journey videos: How do I complete the Rights and Access form?
Last updated on January 10, 2025The Online Author Communication System (OACS) that you use to complete the Rights and Access forms provides an intuitive experience and price transparency. We store institutional/funding agreements and evaluate rules to determine personalized publishing options and preferred license types that may apply to you.
In case your institution does not have central funding or discount agreement, you will be shown the options to choose based on your preference.
In case your institution has an agreement with Elsevier for publishing Gold OA at a reduced rate, upon validation, you can pay the discounted Article Publishing Charge (APC).
- Validation: Institution confirms whether you are affiliated to the institution selected during the publishing journey. Based on this, we send an invoice for a discounted APC in your name to the institution.
- Flexibility: If the institution does not validate paying the APC, then you receive an invoice for the full APC. In case you have no funding available, you can contact us via the support channel at the bottom of this page, to change the publishing option to subscription to publish free of charge within two weeks of Elsevier sending the invoice.
In case your institution has an agreement with Elsevier for publishing Gold OA, upon validation, you can make use of the central institutional funding.

In case your Society has an agreement with Elsevier for society members to publish Gold OA at a reduced rate, upon validation, you can pay the discounted Article Publishing Charge (APC).
- Validation: Society will confirm whether you are a member as you specified in the publishing journey. Based on this, we will send you an invoice for a discounted APC.
- Flexibility: If the Society does not validate, then you receive an invoice for the full APC. In case you have no funding available, you can contact us via the support channel at the bottom of this page, to change the publishing option to subscription and publish free of charge within two weeks of Elsevier sending the invoice.
In case your Society has an agreement with Elsevier for society members to publish Gold OA at a reduced rate, upon validation, you can pay the discounted Article Publishing Charge (APC).
- Validation: Society will confirm whether you or one of your co-authors are a member as you specified in the publishing journey. Based on this, we will send you an invoice for a discounted APC.
- Flexibility: If the Society does not validate, then you receive an invoice for the full APC. When publishing in a hybrid journal and you do not have the funding available, you can contact us via email to change the publishing option to subscription and publish free of charge within two weeks of Elsevier sending the invoice.
In case you have a voucher code to avail waiver or discount on the Article publishing charge, you can apply it during the publishing journey to get a waiver or pay the discounted Article Publishing Charge (APC).
