When will my article be made gold open access?

Last updated on July 26, 2024

If your article has already been published online, it will be made open access usually within 24 hours after our Rights and Access form has been completed and open access ordered.

If your article is in early stages of publication, it will be made open access once it is published online and the Rights and Access form has been completed and open access requested.

The corresponding author receives the Rights and Access form via email. It is sent once the article has passed the proofing stage and has been accepted for publication.

To complete your Rights and Access form you are required to:

  • Follow the navigational steps on the form. These include details of your funding body, user license, copyright and billing information.
  • Check if your funding body requires a specific license and select a Creative Commons license based on your funding bodies requirements. To choose which license, we recommend you to consult the open access section of your journal's Guide for Authors and the Creative Commons website.
  • Pay the open access fee online via credit card or by invoice. In most cases, this is covered by your institution or funding body.
