How does Share Link work?
Last updated on December 18, 2023Your Share Link is a personal, customized short link that provides 50 days free access to the online version of your article on ScienceDirect. You can use Share Link to share your article with colleagues, peers, journalists and your social media networks.
You receive a Share Link if:
- Your article is published on ScienceDirect.
- You are the corresponding author of your article. If you are a co-author of the article, please contact the corresponding author to send the email containing the Share Link to you.
- The journal you published in supports Share Link. To find out if your journal support the Share Link service, consult your journal's Guide for Authors from the journal homepage. To go to your journal's homepage, search for the journal using the search box under 'Find by journal title' in the journal author's page.
How
- Authors receive the link via email as soon as the final version of the article is published online in ScienceDirect.
- Forward the link to colleagues and peers by email or share the link on the social media of your choice.
- Anyone who clicks on the link is taken directly to your article without the need to sign-in or registration.
- The link continues to work even after the free period of 50 days has expired but access to the article then depends on the entitlement of the user.
- When clicking the link, the readers will be redirected to the article page according to their institutional entitlements, so they will either have access via their institution or will be asked to pay.
- For more information on Share Link, please visit the “Promote your article with Share Links” page.
Troubleshooting
If you see an Accepted version of the article, this could be because you previously downloaded the Accepted version of the PDF from the same browser/computer, and you'll need to clear your cache and cookies to view the Final version.
If you still don't see the Final version, it may be that the PDF hasn't been updated yet. In this case, please contact us once you have cleared the cache and cookies at: ScienceDirect Support Center.
If you experience problems opening the link in ScienceDirect, please check your Browser compatibility.
