How can I change the Corresponding Author of my manuscript in Editorial Manager?
Last updated on July 28, 2025When you submit a manuscript in Editorial Manager you’re automatically the corresponding author. In this role, you’ll:
- Receive all correspondence pertaining to the manuscript.
- Be responsible for responding to requests to edit or submit revisions to the manuscript.
The person designated as Corresponding Author may be changed, but a Corresponding Author must either be a proxy registered or self registered Editorial Manager user. If the Corresponding Author designation is changed, the original submitting Author will not have visibility to the submission in the event that the submission is not completed, nor will the submitting Author have access to a submission once the PDF is built. The submission moves to the applicable folder of the new Corresponding Author, who must complete and/or approve the submission.
To change the corresponding author during submission you need:
- A co-author who’ll become the new corresponding author.
- The Name and Email address used by the new Corresponding Author in Editorial Manager.
Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission. Only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor consider (at their discretion) the addition, deletion or rearrangement of authors after the manuscript has been submitted and the author must clearly flag any such request to the Editor. All authors must agree with any such addition, removal or rearrangement.
All requests to change corresponding author or any changes in authorship must be submitted using this form. Requests which do not comply with the instructions outlined in the form will not be considered.
