Why should I integrate my Editorial Manager account with ORCiD?

Last updated on August 10, 2022

Integrating ORCiD with Editorial Manager (EM) suits authors, reviewers and editors for different reasons. What is ORCiD?

  • Authors: A digital identifier will connect you to your publications ensuring your work is recognized. Regardless of how your name appears in various publications or even if your name changes, you will always have a record of all your research which can be made public.
  • Reviewers: You can showcase to editors your experience and suitability to review articles. ORCiD shows your public record of your published work which is valuable to editors.
  • Editors: You can search for reviewers using ORCiD and preview their public record to better gauge their suitability as a reviewer. When a user has linked their ORCiD to their profile, the ORCiD is displayed as a clickable link which opens their public record. Furthermore, the unique ID ensures that the right reviewer is contacted even when names are similar.

When you do connect your EM profile to ORCiD, you will be asked to log into ORCiD and approve the connection. You can disconnect the accounts at any time. See How do I link or unlink my ORCiD to my profile?

Linking your ORCID on any system is optional.
