When and how will I receive the proofs of my article?

Last updated on September 21, 2023

To receive the proofs of your article, you are required to:

  • Be the corresponding author of your article.
  • Have received the confirmation email that your article is accepted for publication in a journal.

The timeframe for proofing varies between journals. For most journals your proofs will be delivered within two weeks of receiving the acknowledgement letter. This time-frame may be exceeded if a journal has additional post-acceptance copy-editing steps, or authors do not immediately respond to requests for additional or missing information and materials.

Proofs are sent in different ways depending on the journal.  Some proofs are sent via email in PDF format or via a link that then opens a PDF file for review and correction online. Many journals now use Proof Central, an online HTML interface tool where you can quickly and easily input corrections, comments and change requests in your proof and submit them directly for correction.  For journals using Proof Central, the email you receive will contain a URL which will take you to your proof page.  The method of returning corrected proofs will be clearly indicated within the proof email.

You can Track Your Accepted Article through the publication process. The expected and actual dispatch date of the proofs of your article will be displayed once this information is available.

For more information on the production process for accepted articles, visit our Journal Authors' Homepage.
