Why can't I see Open Access options on the Rights and Access form?

Last updated on August 27, 2025

The options that are available vary depending on the article type your article belongs to. If your accepted article is one of these article types, you will not have an option to order Open Access via the Rights and Access form. This is due to the policies of individual Funding Bodies concerning these non-peer-reviewed article types.

  • Discussion
  • Correspondence
  • Editorial

If your article is not one of these article types, but you still don't have an option to order Open Access, it may be because:

  • the journal does not support Open Access
  • the journal only supports Open Access for funded papers (please contact us via one of the options below if you think this might be the case, and we'll check for you)
  • that article has already been published and it is impossible to make it Open Access retrospectively.
  • The journal is subscription and the option to publish gold open access was available for you in a mirror journal. Please check the list of mirror journals and also read more about mirror journals.
