The Elsa toolbar

Last updated on July 03, 2025

The Elsa toolbar is where you can complete many tasks in Elsa.

The toolbar features two tabs: the Home tab and the Insert tab. On the Home tab, you will see options to complete actions such as formatting text, track changes, import a Word file, and link any unlinked citations while on the Insert tab you’ll see options to add chapter assets such as figures, tables, boxes, equations and callouts and to add references.

If you do not see all toolbar options shown below, try zooming out with your browser.

Home Tab

  • Paragraph text: text created in paragraph style is regular body text. Note that Elsa has only one universal font size and style. If you wish to have a specific font for your project contact an Elsevier staff member. If you need a larger text, we recommend zooming in via your browser.
