Deprecated features of Embase
Last updated on December 21, 2023
Please review this page for any announcement of the deprecated features. Some of these features might still be available in the product but we have discontinued their development. Hence we advise you to prevent using the below features in order to obtain more accurate results while searching.
| Features | Details |
|---|---|---|
1. | Priority journal limit | ‘Priority journal’ was an index term added to the record which came from journals based on our internal criteria of journals from specific publishers, peer-reviewed, having English content, an editorial board, and references. This limit was created for internal purpose. Since the usage was low, we decided to deprecate the ‘priority journal’ limit. The indexing was discontinued from mid of 2020. |
2. | ‘Unindexed drug’ index term | Historically only 30 drugs per article were indexed the rest of the drug terms were categorized as unindexed drug. The term unindexed drug adds no value today because the maximum number of drug terms that can be indexed is variable and can be as high as 5,600. Hence the indexing of the term unindexed drug has been discontinued from 2021. |
3. | Translator widget | The translator widget of Google became obsolete few years ago. As a result, the translator widget used in Embase has been deprecated since December 2023. For translation purposes users will need to use the browser-level translate feature. |
