Additional improvements to CAS registry number search

Continuing on from our enhancements to better support search and retrieval of CAS registry numbers (CAS RN), and inpartnership with CAS, we have enabled a new retrieval service for these identifiers when searching via Quick Search and Query builder. Thus improving the serach results for substances when searched by their associated CAS RN.

What is included as part of this release?

Enhanced Search for CAS Registry number via quick search

Some substances within Reaxys do not have a CAS RN associated to them, therefore searching for CAS RN would result in a zero result. Thanks to the new updates, in such cases the integrated retrieval service is now checked and the corresponding Reaxys substance is retrieved, with it’s CAS number alongside it.

This  capability is now available via Quick Search and Query builder, using the querylet: CAS Registry Number. Below you will find examples of the new function:

Compound (A) does not have a CAS RN associated to it within Reaxys.

In the past, searching for the CAS RN: 2730222-71-4 would have returned no results. Now, when searching via quick search it utilizes the retrieval service and brings forward the structure and the associated CAS RN result (indicating its retrieved status by the CAS icon (B))

Enhanced Search for CAS Registry number via Query builder

Enhanced CAS RN search is also possible via the Query builder, utilizing the CAS Registry Number Querylet (C):

Additional details:

  • Reminder: CAS RN displayed without the CAS icon are retrieved directly from within Reaxys. These are available to you at all times and do not need to be requested via the retrieval service
  • Requested CAS RN are depicted with the CAS icon o All requested CAS RN are temporary and are only available for the length of an active session. After which they are removed from Reaxys
    • Temporary CAS RN cannot be exported. There are no changes to export of existing CAS RN already available in Reaxys
  • The new ‘Retrieve CAS RN’ button is available for Reaxys, Pubchem and NOW Reaxys Commercial Substances database too.
