How do I view or edit an author revision due date in Editorial Manager?
Last updated on April 16, 2024In Editorial Manager (EM), editors may need to update the Author Revision Due Date. To do so requires:
- The editor has permission to view the submission either because they were assigned, or because they have permission to view all.
- The editor has permission to Override Author Revision Due Dates.
- The submission is at status Under Revision, Incomplete Revision, or Revision Needs Approval by Author.
How?
- To quickly view due dates for all submissions out for revision, go to the Submissions Out for Revision folder in your Main Menu.
- Scroll or use CTRL-F to find the Author Revision Due Date.
- If it is not visible, click the settings icon in the upper right of the table to unhide the column.
- You may be restricted to only view submissions that you were assigned to.
- See How can I monitor pending revisions for more details on using this folder.
- To view or edit the due date for a specific submission:
- Locate it in the Submissions Out for Revision folder or via Search Submissions.
- Click Details in the action menu.
- Scroll or use CTRL-F to find the Author Revision Due Date.
- If you have permission to override, you may edit the value by typing in the field or by clicking the calendar icon to select a date.
- After making any change in the Details screen, scroll to the bottom and Save.
After changing the Author Revision Due Date
- The author can see the new date from their own menu.
- For some journals, the author is configured to be notified by email of changed due dates
- Article types have a default number of days to revise, contact your Journal manager with any questions about the configuration in your journal.
- When the Editors make a revise decision, those with permission to Override Revision Due Date can do so while entering a decision or sending the letter.
- Once the letter has been sent, editors with permission can change the due date.
Author revision due dates can be blank, meaning there is no defined due date for that revision. See screenshot.
- When the revision due date is blank, the submission will never be found when running Author Revision Reminder Report because it relies on the due date, but could still reminded using the Author Revision Status Report. See How can I remind an author.
- It may be eligible for automated reminders if they have been defined based on days since decision.
