Can I read my PDFs whilst offline on Mendeley Reference Manager?

On the desktop version of Mendeley Reference Manager you have two options when making PDFs available offline.

The first option is making the entirety of your library available offline, you can do this by:

• Right clicking or using the 3-dot menu on the "All References" smart collection to access the option 'Make Available Offline'.
• Right clicking or using the 3-dot menu on a specific collection to access the option 'Make Available Offline'.

Once selecting the 'Make Available Offline' option via either path, a download to your local source will begin. Once complete, you will see a green checkmark icon in the 'File' column besides each reference that has a PDF attached which indicates that is now available to read offline.

Mendeley Reference Manager on the web will allow you to open and read PDFs offline as long as you have opened that specific PDF when online. You can identify which PDFs will open whilst offline by looking for a green checkmark icon in the ‘File’ column for each reference that has a PDF attached within your Mendeley Reference Manager library.

Browser storage:

• Clearing your browser cache will reset which PDFs you are able to read whilst offline. You will need to reopen PDFs whilst online to restore your ability to read the PDFs whilst offline on the web.
• Browser storage limits may apply, in which case the browser may evict PDFs from the cache if the storage limit is reached. If this occurs, you will have to reopen PDFs online to restore your ability to read the PDFs whilst offline on the web.
