What document types are supported by the Mendeley Reference Manager reader?

You can only open PDFs in Mendeley Reference Manager. Non-PDF files can be added to your library, but you cannot open them in the reader.
You can download these files by clicking on the file name in the right-hand Info panel, they can then be opened in the relevant application.
