Why are PDFs not available for all ClinicalKey content?
Last updated on August 02, 2021
As of May 15, 2019, PDF downloads are not available as part of individual trials. This functionality is only included in paid subscriptions. If you would like access to Book PDFs (if applicable) or to personalize the experience (e.g., Saved Content), (create a user profile/personal account) and log in using those credentials.
The availability of PDFs for books and journals can also differ based on other factors. View the below information to learn more.
Journals
ClinicalKey has PDFs of all Elsevier-published journal articles that are available on the product. For non-Elsevier-published journals, we only have PDFs when the publisher allows.

Books
PDFs of chapters are provided for the majority of book titles in ClinicalKey, with the exception of books intended for the medical education setting (used by students and trainees on an undergraduate and graduate level). Since the launch of ClinicalKey, PDFs have not been included with the medical education books because of the unauthorized systematic and widespread downloading and sharing of PDFs in the medical education market. However, these book titles are still included in full text in the ClinicalKey HTML book reader, complete with all chapters, images, tables, and references.

If you are a faculty member and wish to assign reading resources for your courses, please note that all content in ClinicalKey, including book chapters and parts thereof, have durable URLs that can be captured and copied into a syllabus and will lead directly to the needed source.
