What is required to submit a paper to SSRN?

A free SSRN User Account with a complete author profile is required to submit a paper.
Additional requirements include:
- Paper title (in English)
- Date the paper was written
- Abstract/summary of the paper (in English)
- Names, current affiliations, and valid email addresses of all authors
- Copyright holder permission (if applicable)
- A full-text PDF
- Full-text PDF must display the title and all authors with their affiliations - An AI disclosure statement (if using AI)
- AI disclosure statement must be included with the abstract and display on the PDF - Other relevant information to include:
- Manuscript Identification
- Working Paper Series
- Citation, if published - Some content types, such as medical papers, have additional requirements. These include ensuring that patient confidentiality, patient consent, and any conflict of interest or funding disclosures have been properly addressed. Are all content types eligible?
No. SSRN accepts studies with rigorous methodology and original findings, meeting our posting standards.
Content types that are typically NOT accepted include:
- Abstract-only submissions
- Non-English content
- Published papers in certain disciplines
- Class assignments / course projects
- Research written by high school students and faculty
- Non-scholarly articles
- Including, but not limited to: Articles with no references, some commercial/marketing material - Frameworks
- Calls for papers
- News articles
- Presentation slides
- Conference proceedings
- Guides and how tos
Will all eligible content be posted?
No. Submissions may be rejected for missing information, failure to meet Research Integrity standards and editorial policies, or non-compliance with our Terms of Use and other guidelines. High submission volumes may also lead to rejections. Excessive submissions may be declined due to the greater review effort required and potential misuse concerns. We reserve the right to decline batch content.
Will SSRN explain why a paper was rejected?
No. Rejection decisions are final. We do not provide individualized reasons for each rejection due to the high volume of submissions we process, and we are not able to share detailed explanations even upon request.
