Why is my paper non-scholarly or non-research?

Last updated on June 04, 2026

SSRN must determine if a paper meets the criteria of scholarly content. The presence of citations, references, footnotes, or endnotes is a key indicator of scholarly work. When a submission lacks these, it may suggest the content is an opinion, editorial, advocacy, or review piece rather than a scholarly contribution. Non-scholarly content does not meet our submission requirements.
