The Research Influence Score (THE) analyses the influence of an entity’s publications by analyzing their corresponding citations. It is based on the Scholarly Output (THE) and excludes discontinued sources. Self-citations are included. The importance of a publication is determined based on the importance of other papers citing it, using a 'page like' algorithm. This means that citations from highly-cited papers care more weight than citations from papers that are rarely or never cited. The resulting number is adjusted by year, subject, and the total number of academic and research staff.
The indicator is weighted at 5.0% of the overall THE World University Rankings Score.
The score is generated using a 'page rank' like algorithm owned and run by THE, so details (such as the underlying publications) are not available in SciVal.
