What are the technical requirements for Reaxys?
Last updated on January 07, 2025
Reaxys is a Java-free application. It works on Mac and Windows and is supported on the following browsers:
- Firefox (last 3 major versions, last extended support (ESR) version)
- Chrome (last 3 major versions, last long-term support (LTS) version)
- Edge (last 3 major versions)
- Safari (last 2 major versions)
Please note:
- Microsoft ceased the support for all earlier versions of Internet Explorer in the beginning of 2016 (more information). Therefore Reaxys will also only be supported in combination with this version of Internet Explorer.
- For Reaxys users in China: We noticed a significant performance increase if Google Chrome is used. If you encounter any performance issues, then try switching to Google Chrome.
- For all users: We recommend not using addins and plugins or at least reducing their number to the absolutely necessary minimum. All such components influence the performance and memory usage of a browser.
- Since new Reaxys communicates with 3rd party javascript libraries for functionality and metrics, it is advisible to whitelist the following list of domains and dns’s in your browser or firewall:
- *.reaxys.com (direct server communication within the *.reaxys.com domain space).
- *.adobedtm.com (Adobe Analytics)
- *.elsevier.com (Metrics and Support and Help Guides)
- *.pendo.io (User Experience Support Tool)
- *.newrelic.com (Network and Performance metrics)
- *.nr-data.net (NewRelic data)
- *.usabilla.com (Customer feedback tool)
- *.cloudfront.net (Content Delivery Network CDN)
- It is also important to note that new Reaxys:
- Communicates over SSL (HTTPS)
- Makes use of websocket connections for requests and responses for the best performance. If websockets are not supported by your browser or network, new Reaxys will revert to using normal HTTP however, you may experience some minor performance degradation.
- Uses the browser cache to cache static files and speed up the page loads. Every time the cache is deleted, this needs to be downloaded again which will affect the first page load.
