What can I do if I want to stop being invited to review for Elsevier Journals?
Last updated on December 15, 2022If you receive an invitation to review for an Elsevier journal but don't wish to take on the assignment, you can decline the invitation by following the steps in How do I respond to an invitation to review in Editorial Manager?
If you've already agreed to review but need more time to complete your review, you can contact the journal to request an extension: Could you extend the due date of my review?
If you've already agreed to review but changed your mind, you can contact the Journal directly by following the steps here: What should I do if I have accepted my review task but I can’t complete it?
If you'd like to stop being invited completely for all Elsevier journals, then you can submit a request at our Privacy Policy center and select the reason "Opt-out of review invitations" from the drop-down.
Elsevier will take all necessary actions to remove your contact information from our internal databases (e.g. Editorial Manager), however please be aware Editors can still search by area of expertise on Scopus/Science Direct or other non-Elsevier repository (e.g. Web of Science, Google Scholars, etc) which may contain your contact information.
