How can an Editor view completed reviews in Editorial Manager?
Last updated on April 21, 2022In Editorial Manager (EM), Editors with permission can access all feedback from Reviewers and Editors at any time, without needing to begin their own decision process. Editors can see an overview of everyone assigned to the current revision and all previous revisions, with the current status of each person as long as the following are true:
- Editor has permission to View Reviews and Comments.
- Editor is assigned to the submission, or else has permission to view all submissions regardless of assignment.
- Submission has had at least one completed Review or Editor Decision
Note: The same information is also available within the Editor Decision Form while making a decision.
How?
- Click the View Reviews and Comments link in one of the of following locations:
- In the submission's Action column in any folder.
- In the left sidebar of the Reviewer Selection Summary page.
- In the Editor Decision form, the table of completed reviews may be displayed within the form itself, or may be a linked popup window, depending on configuration.
- Click the link to open the 'View Reviews and Comments' pop-up window.
- There are columns for each revision of the manuscript, and each row represents one reviewer or editor's relationship with the manuscript.
- Each person's name links to a popup with personal details.
- Before a review is completed, the current status is displayed, for example "Invited" or "Agreed to Review".
- It will show "(None)" when that reviewer was never invited for that revision.
- It will show Terminated if an editor decision ended the review assignment before it was completed.
- For completed reviews the recommendation/decision term for each person displays as a hyperlink that opens the Review Form or Editor Form submitted by the person.
- Any decision letter sent for a previous version is linked at the bottom of that column.
- The Author's Response to Reviewers is linked, if the author entered comments while submitting the revision.
- When you click on any Reviewer Recommendation term link to open the review, you may have additional actions available depending on your permission and the submission status:
- Reopen review sends a new invitation to the reviewer so they can resubmit the review; available only before a decision has been made. See How can I make changes to a completed review in Editorial Manager?. Edit Reviewer Comments allows you to manually edit the reviewer comments; note this is not reversible and the original comments will be lost. See How can I make changes to a completed review in Editorial Manager?.
- Rate Review enter a numerical rating of the review itself, to be used in Reviewer Performance Reports. For more details, see What are Review Ratings in Editorial Manager?.
- Additional links above the grid provide more information where available:
- Attachments opens a screen to show file attachments uploaded by Reviewers or Editors. If your permission allows, you can upload new attachments and/or manage the existing attachments. How can I attach files to reviews or decisions?
- View Manuscript Rating Card displays a grid of Reviewer and/or Editor responses to journal-defined Manuscript Rating Questions or Overall Manuscript Rating.
- View Review Question Responses displays any Reviewer and/or Editor responses to journal-defined Custom Review Questions.
