Can I submit corrections from multiple authors in Proof Central?

Last updated on August 05, 2021

Proof Central allows you to invite co-authors to your article. If you make use of this feature, please be aware that:

  • You can’t access the proofing environment at the same time. If your co-author is in the proofing environment, you will see a message in the right-hand side pane, indicating that someone else has entered the screen. It is therefore very important that each person closes the browser after they are done with providing edits and saves the corrections.
  • You decide how long your co-author has time to provide his corrections. This can be a matter of hours, but also several days.
  • A co-author is not able to submit the proof on your behalf. Only the corresponding author can submit the proof.
  • The edit log records exactly who made what change. You can even filter on an individual to see all the corrections or comments made by that person.

If you have chosen to switch to PDF annotation mode, you can’t access the online HTML version anymore, which means you lose the option to use the collaboration feature. In this case, you can download the PDF, make annotations and pass the PDF on to all of the co-authors for their added annotations. Once everyone has provided their corrections in the PDF file, the corresponding author can submit the single PDF back into Proof Central.
