Last updated on July 28, 2025

Follow these steps to search in the Quick Search box:

  1. Type into the Quick Search box or, if you are not on the home page, select 'Quick Search' from the Browse drop-down menu.
  2. Choose a source from the All These Sources drop-down list (if no source is selected, all sources will be searched).
  3. Type one or more words into the search box and click 'Search'.
  4. Check the Include synonyms box if you want to also search for synonyms.

The following video (11 min) shows you how to do a quick search in PharmaPendium and explains how to work with Wildcards, Exact searching, Boolean operators and synonyms.

Some suggestions to refine your search:

  • Use one of the following wildcards:
    • For variable truncation (i.e., one or more letters), use an asterisk (*). For example, a search for tumor* retrieves results including tumors, tumorigenic, etc.
    • For single-letter truncation, use a question mark (?)
    • Use double-quotes to retrieve exact terms/phrases (e.g., "heart attack")
  • After conducting your search, you can view and edit your query from the Results page by clicking the Query Details link above the results.

You can use Quick Search to search the following PharmaPendium sources:

  • FDA Approval Packages
  • EMA Approval Documents
  • FDA Advisory Committee Documents
  • DESI Documents
  • Mosby's Drug Consult
  • Meyler's Side Effects of Drugs
