How do I manage Co-owners in a Figures List?
Last updated on December 18, 2025
Each figures list has an owner (creator) to begin with. The owner can then add more individuals with Elsevier (elsevier.com) or Reed Elsevier (reedelsevier.com) IDs to be co-owners of the list. Then those individuals have the same user privileges as the original owner of that figures list. Any owner and co-owners of a figures list can add or remove anyone with an owner role in that list. However, a user can only be assigned to one of the three roles in a figures list, as appropriate.
To add a co-owner, select 'Manage figures list owner(s)' from the 'Action' menu of a figures list. A Confirmation message is displayed to indicate the user permissions of a co-owner. Click 'OK' to acknowledge the message and the Add owner pop-up window is displayed. If you do not want to add a co-owner, click 'Cancel' to dismiss the Confirmation message. To add a new co-owner, click the 'Add' button.
Enter the Elsevier or Reed Elsevier email address of the co-owner and then click 'Add'. Please note, any other email addresses (domain) cannot be added as co-owners of a figures list. A confirmation message is displayed to indicate a co-owner is added to the selected figures list.
Two emails are sent automatically to the affected users. One email with the Subject line "Figures list invite as owner" is automatically sent to the newly added co-owner, informing them who added them into a particular figures list as a co-owner. Another email with the Subject line "User added to the Figures list" is also automatically sent to the person who added the co-owner, informing them that they had added a particular user with their user ID to a particular figures list.
If the user is already an owner, a co-owner, or a content manager of the selected figures list, an Error message is displayed and the user is not added as a co-owner. A user can only be assigned to one of the three roles in a figures list, as appropriate.
To remove a co-owner of a figures list, click 'Remove' in the Action column of the relevant row in the 'Add owner' pop-up window. A confirmation message is displayed to indicate the selected co-owner has been removed from the selected figures list.
Two emails are sent automatically to the affected users. One email with the Subject line "Removed you from figures list as owner" is automatically sent to the newly removed co-owner, informing them who removed them from being a co-owner of a particular figures list. Another email with the Subject line of "User removed from the Figures list" is also automatically sent to the person who removed the co-owner, informing them that they had removed a particular user with their user ID from a particular figures list.
