What are Figures Lists in Image Finder?

Besides images from books and journals and curated collections, Image Finder also has a Figures Lists feature.

Figures lists enable authors and others to contribute figures to a book project. A figure is an image and the metadata that give the image:

• A caption
• A number
• A credit line
• Other properties depending on the source of the image

There are three roles involved in the life cycle of a figures list:

• Owners (creators) and Co-owners
• Content Manager
• Contributor

Owners (creators) and Co-owners:

• Create figures lists
• Define the annotation of figures
• Add/remove co-owners
• Add/remove content managers
• Invite/remove contributors
• Add/remove chapters
• Add/remove figures
• Request original art relating to Image Finder images
• Download high-resolution images

Content Managers:

• Add/remove content managers
• Invite/remove contributors
• Add/remove chapters
• Add/remove figures
• Request original art relating to Image Finder images
• Download high-resolution images

Contributors:

• Add/remove figures for the chapters that they have been invited to contribute to.
• Add images that they have found in Image Finder or from other sources.
