How do I create and manage saved searches?

You can save a search query for future use. Once you save a search, you can view, rerun, modify, change the name, or delete it. These saved searches do not expire.
- You can save searches from the Search results list and search history.
- You can access your saved searches from the ‘Alerts and Saved searches’ page.
- You may create email alerts from your saved searches on the ‘Alerts and Saved searches’ page.
- You can have a total of 260 saved searches and email alerts at once.
Note: You must have created an Engineering Village account and have signed in to save searches.

Save a search from the Search results list
- Above the search results (in the query bar), click ‘Save search.’ The ‘Save search’ window opens.
- Enter a name for your saved search on the ‘Enter search name’ line.
- Click ‘Save search.’ A confirmation message opens at the top of the page.
- You may click the ‘Alerts and Saved Searches’ link in this pop-up window to view and modify your saved searches on the ‘Alerts and Saved searches’ page.
- Click ‘Close’ after reviewing the confirmation message.
Save a search from Search history
- Click ‘Search history’ in the Engineering Village navigation bar. The ‘Recent results’ pop-up window opens.
- Click ‘View all results.’ The ‘Search history on Engineering Village’ page opens.
- If you have more than one search query listed, locate the row containing the search you want to save.
- From the ‘Save search’ column, select the checkbox for each search query you want to save. The ‘Save search’ pop-up window opens.
- Enter a name for your saved search on the ‘Enter search name’ line.
- Click ‘Save search.’ A confirmation message opens at the top of the page.
- You may click the ‘Alerts and Saved Searches’ link in this pop-up window to view and modify your saved searches on the ‘Alerts and Saved searches’ page.
- Click ‘Close’ after reviewing the confirmation message.
You can view, modify, and delete saved searches from the ‘Alerts and Saved searches’ page.

- Name of saved search
- Search query details
- type of search (Quick, Expert, Thesaurus, Combined)
- autostemming (on or off)
- sort type
- publication year(s)
- database(s)
- date that the query was originally saved
- Active status (alert or saved search)
- Actions (edit, delete, or share individual search queries)
View searches
- Click the user profile menu icon in the main navigation bar of any Engineering Village page. The user profile menu opens.
- Click ‘Alerts & saved searches.’ The ‘Alerts and Saved searches’ page opens.
- View your saved searches on this page.
Note: Additionally, you may create email alerts from your saved searches on the ‘Alerts and Saved searches’ page.
Rerun saved searches
To rerun a search, click the linked search query from the ‘Search query’ column. The ‘Search results’ page displays a list of results.
Edit saved searches
- From the ‘Search query’ column, click the linked search query. A new Search page opens that contains your original search query.
- Enter your modified search query in the Search box(es).
Enable an alert from a saved search
- From the ‘Active’ column, click the checkbox to enable the alert. The ‘Enable alert’ pop-up window opens.
- Click ‘Enable alert.’ The checkbox is highlighted in orange to indicate that your saved search has been converted to an active email alert.
Edit the names of saved searches
Note: The name of a saved search can be edited only from the ‘Alerts and Saved searches’ page. The name is limited to 500 alphanumeric characters. Additionally, spaces and underscores (up to the 500-character maximum) are permitted in the name.
- From the ‘Actions’ column, click the pencil icon. The ‘Edit saved search’ pop-up window opens.
- Under the ‘Enter saved search name’ label, edit the name for your saved search.
- Click ‘Save search.’ The ‘Name’ column displays the modified name for your search query.
Delete saved searches
- From the ‘Actions’ column, click the ‘X’ in the row of the saved search to delete a saved search query. A ‘Warning’ message opens to confirm that you want to delete the saved search.
- Click ‘Confirm’ to delete the message. The saved search is deleted from the ‘Alerts and Saved searches’ page.
Share saved searches with others
- From the ‘Actions’ column, click the share icon of the saved search query that you want to share. The ‘Share recent search results for (search query name)’ window opens.
- On the ‘Share with:’ line, enter a maximum of 50 email addresses for whom you would like to share the saved search.
- Insert a comma between each email address.
- The ‘Subject’ line will be populated with the text ‘Recent Engineering Village search results for (search query name).’
- You may edit this subject line if you prefer different text.
- Enter text for the ‘Message’ if desired.
- Click ‘Send Email’ to share the saved search.
