How do I Recall my chapter after submission?
Last updated on November 17, 2022After you’ve submitted your chapter forward in the workflow in EMSS, you won’t be able to make changes to the chapter content unless it is returned to your step. Depending on the current state of the chapter, you will be able to:
- Recall the chapter automatically.
- Request a Recall approval from the current user.
- Contact the current user or Elsevier DE and request the chapter’s return.
If you do not have all files and just want to upload a few and return later, you can submit your chapter the traditional way.
Please note that once you have submitted your contribution, you can no longer change, add or delete the manuscript, figures and/or art, though you may be able to Recall Your Submission.
How
- Select the project you are working on from the drop-down menu on your 'Welcome' screen.
- Click 'Go'.
- Click on the appropriate manuscript title on the 'Home' screen.
- Depending on the chapter state, you will have a few options:
- If the chapter is still with the next workflow step, and hasn’t yet been viewed, click the 'Recall' button in the 'Actions' box and the chapter will automatically return to your workflow step.
- If the current user has viewed the content, you can click the 'Recall' button in the 'Actions' box and a recall request will be sent to the current user. When they click 'Approve', the chapter will be returned to your workflow step.
- If new content has already been uploaded or the chapter has moved beyond the step after yours, the Recall button will not be available. You will need to contact the Elsevier DE (visible in the 'Assignments' box on the 'Your Manuscript' page or at the bottom of every page in EMSS) to request the chapter be returned to you.Or you could just post a note to this effect on the Manuscript tab.
After completing these steps:
- Your contribution is recalled to your workflow step, OR
- An automatic request is sent to the next user to recall your contribution to your workflow step, OR
- You have contacted the Elsevier DE to request the chapter be returned to your workflow step.
