How do I earn and claim CME Credit/Time and MOC Credit through ClinicalKey?
Last updated on December 18, 2024
ClinicalKey supports Internet Point of Care learning (IPoC), which is a certified Continuing Medical Education (CME) activity that allows physicians the opportunity to identify and research a topic relevant to their clinical practice. CME credit/time is available for the following content types: books, Clinical Overviews, and published journal articles.
ClinicalKey also offers US physicians the ability to submit the CME credit they earn on ClinicalKey for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credit with the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Successful completion of CME activities, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables participants to earn up to 0.5 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the ABIM MOC program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.
How
CME credit/time is earned and claimed as follows:

Please Note: The following information about CME Time applies only to subscribers of ClinicalKey and ClinicalKey for Nursing in Australia and New Zealand. The information about CME Credits applies to all other subscribers to clinicalkey.com.
Please Note:
- Journal Articles in Press (ePub Ahead of Print) are not eligible for CME credit/time.
- Subscribers outside of the United States need to check with the medical board in their country to see whether the organization honors the American Medical Association PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM available for searches conducted on ClinicalKey. If they do, subscribers would submit their Certificates to the appropriate CME organization in their country.
- Subscribers of ClinicalKey and ClinicalKey for Nursing in Australia and New Zealand will earn CME Time instead of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. In this Help article, mentions of CME Time apply only to subscribers in these countries.
