How are age groups defined in drug monographs?

Age groups in drug monographs are defined as follows:

Adults - 18 years and older.

Elderly - 65 years and older.

Adolescents - 13-18 years.

Children - 1-12 years.

Infants - 1 month - 1 year.

Neonates - Full-term newborn 0-4 weeks; may also apply to a premature neonate whose post-conceptional age is 42-46 weeks (age listed is postnatal age unless otherwise specified).

Premature neonates - Neonates born at < 38 weeks' gestation.
