The New SSRN Revision Process

Last updated on May 29, 2024

How does the new SSRN revision process work? The creation of a new SSRN submission form dictated the need for a new revision process. The old revision system lacked the ability for authors to make some revision changes immediately available.

Why did we change the revision process? Authors wanted the ability to make minor metadata and PDF changes immediately available without the need for a revision review. The old process prevented the authors from seeing major changes instantly, and in some cases took days for approval . . . but not anymore!

What can users expect with the new revision form?
The new form:
  • Is one page making managing changes very easy.
  • Is flexible enough to allow for minor changes, or the ability to upload a PDF.
  • Provides a spot to add Manuscript Identification Details when authors want to modify or add a DOI.
  • Makes changes immediately available on the paper’s public abstract page.
What fields are not open for editing in the revision form?
The new form:
  • Does not allow for the alteration of authors or order of authors in the submission.
  • Will not allow authors or submitters the ability to add or change classifications tied to the submission.
How will the new revision process work?

Authors can use the ‘Revise’ button available on their My Papers page, or the ‘Revise my Submission’ button located on the public abstract page of their paper.

Revise Revise Submission

The new revision process is designed to allow users to easily change their submission, submit with ease, and view the changes immediately on the paper’s public abstract page.

Authors can make the following changes to their submission:
  • Add, remove, or replace an existing PDF. NOTE: Use the x on the far right of the dialogue box to remove the PDF before replacing it with a new PDF
  • Revise the Paper Title
  • Revise the text within the Abstract section
  • Add or revise Keywords
  • Change the Language the paper was written in
  • Change the date the paper was written
  • Add or revise the Manuscript Identification Details
Can I revert to the previous version?
No. Previous versions will not be saved. Authors are now in control of their changes and careful attention should be paid to verify the changes you require are correct. You will need to make another revision to change the metadata associated with your submission if it is not correct. SSRN Support Team Staff are unable to revert changes or restore a previous revision if an author made an incorrect change or selection during a revision.
