Shows the total policy citations received by the Scholarly Output in SciVal. It indicates the prolificacy of an entity being cited in policy documents: how many citations in policy documents does this entity have? Unlike the Citing Policy Documents count, this is a total count of citations - a Policy Document may cite more than one of your entity's publications.
The policy documents are indexed in the Overton database and are matched to publications in SciVal via the DOI numbers in the references.
SciVal often displays Citation Counts in a chart or table with years. These years are always the years in which items were published, and do not refer to the years in which citations were received.
- Understand the total number of policy documents citing your entity's by seeing the total number of policy citations received by the research
- Understand the context of the Policy Documents citing your entity's research. Is it in a similar research area to the Scholarly Output?
- Comparing disciplines that are not likely to have research referenced in a Policy Documents
- Comparing research from countries that are not evenly covered by the Overton Policy Bodies
- Policy Body Count and Policy Document Countries Count which help indicate the reach that the Scholarly Output has in policy
- Scholarly Output cited by Policies which indictes how many publications have been cited by the Policy Documents
