The sum of abstract views and clicks on the link to view the full-text at the publisher’s website. This metric indicates the total usage impact of the university’s Scholarly Output and is generated from usage data in Scopus. THE uses this research metric to calculate the paper views indicator that is normalized and measures the proportion of a university’s research papers that are viewed or downloaded.

These events cover all views from both subscribed and trial customers. These data hold intelligence about the interest in research outputs, and are an important piece of the jigsaw puzzle that builds the complete picture of the impact of research on academia and society.
