Improvements to user experience

The Reaxys Team continue to strive to make improvements to your experience within Reaxys. This release focuses on some key areas which were identified by the scienftific community as areas which needed some improvements.

The following improvements have been made

Journal tile filter improvements: introduction of alphanumerical paging

When working with a large document results set, the requirement to refine your results to those which are relevant to you is crucial. Identifying the most relevant journals needs to be quick and efficient.

Within the journal title filter you will see the ‘View more’ option (A). This exposes all the journals present in your results page. The new option (B) allows you to sort the journal titles with a ‘New’ Alphanumerical option. This allows you to jump to your journal of interest, based on the first letter of its title (C).

Improvements to patent number search via query builder

Accessing information from the patent literature is common practice in research. An easy way to retrieve a specific patent is to search for its patent number. These identifiers come in a variety of different formats. Within Reaxys we have made this search experience much easier by recognizing a variety of common formats for search.

This ability to recognize different patent number formats has been available via Quick Search already. This enhancement is now enabled via the query builder to provide a more complete user experience. Using the patent number querylet (D) you can enter any format of a patent number (E) and Reaxys will recognize this and present you with the document with ease.

Patent assignee bug fix- related to ampersand (&) symbol

The ampersand (&) symbol or ‘and’ in a patent assignee (eg Merck & co inc, Johnson and Johnson, etc)  both were not being considered when only one of these were being used in a search. It is now possible to search either Merck & co inc or Merck and co inc and you will retrieve the same number of results (J).

Additionally the use of ampersand (&) as part of a patent assignee will now keep the assignee together resulting in better rendering of company names in the filters (K).

New literature linking service

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the look and experiences within Reaxys, we have not only  updated the literature linking service to be more performant, but we have also updated  the user interface.

When clicking the full text button of an article (F,) this will now direct you to the publishers website  without any intermediary pages. This is the same for both Articles and patent documents.

If the source of a document, article (G) or patent (H) is not reachable, it is now possible to capture the reference details and paste this into a document or email, which can be used to source the documents from alternative routes.

For patents available from multiple sources, i.e. Espacenet or USPTO, a choice screen (I) is offered to allow the selection of your preferred source for patent literature.
