How do I correct metadata in Mendeley Desktop?

Last updated on July 26, 2017

Whenever you add or import a new reference to your library, it is highly recommended that your review its details for accuracy.

If you need to amend the details of a selected paper, click into the appropriate field Mendeley's document details panel and apply the required changes.

Your ability to cite accurately is dependent on the accuracy of your library entries, so we recommend taking the time to thoroughly review new additions.

How

Follow these steps to correct the extracted metadata in Mendeley Desktop:

  1. On your Mendeley library, select the document or reference you would like to correct the metadata for. The Details pane on the right side of the screen shows the related metadata.
  2. Click on the field you would like to correct and enter the correct data.
    • If this is the first time you are correcting the data and you haven't verified the extracted data yet, either click 'Search' to look for more or other metadata in Mendeley's catalog, or 'Details are Correct' at the top of the pane.
