How do I download facets?
Last updated on November 23, 2024
The categories of information in the ‘Refine results’ pane are called facets, and you can easily download this facet data.
How
Follow these steps to download a facet:
- Run a Quick or Expert search. The page refreshes and the Document results list displays.
- From the Refine results pane on the left side of the page, click the ‘Download’ data icon within any facet to export the terms and records totals as a .csv (comma separated values) file. Up to 160 terms in a facet are downloaded.
- Click the down arrow to expand the facet if needed.
- Click ‘View more’ from any facet that contains this link. A pop-up window opens that contains a default of the first 60 results for the facet (if available).
- You may increase the total number of records in this view by clicking ‘Max’ at the bottom of this pop-up window to view a maximum of up to 160 results for the facet.
- You may decrease the total number of records displayed in this view by clicking ‘10’ at the bottom of this pop-up window.
- After selecting other record view options, you may click ‘60’ to return to the original display entries.
- Click the ‘Download’ data icon at the top of the pop-up page to download up to 160 results into a .csv file.
Note: If the ‘10’ or ‘60’ options are selected, the number of checkboxes in the view on the page will be decreased to either 10 or 60 entries, respectively. However, if you click the ‘Download’ icon at the top of the page, the system will download all the records (maximum of 160 records).
From the ‘By category’ section near the top of the Refine results pane, click the ‘Download all’ icon. Up to 160 results from each of the facets will be downloaded into a .csv file.
For both the individual downloads and the ‘Download all’ function, depending upon the browser you are using, you will see either a download window display or see that your file has downloaded.
- If the file has downloaded, you may click the .csv file to open it.
- If the download window displays, open or save the .csv file. If you select to open the file, select the software in which you would like the file to open. For example, you can export the file to Microsoft Excel(R) and use the data to create your own graphs and charts.
