The ClinicalKey AI mobile app (iOS and Android) combines trusted, evidence-based clinical content with generative AI-driven conversational search to support clinicians in delivering high-quality patient care. The app includes features designed to support usability and accessibility for a wide range of users, including healthcare professionals who rely on assistive technologies.
- Many screens include descriptive titles and consistent navigation elements across the conversation, search, citation, and settings workflows
- Natural language conversational search supports users with motor or cognitive impairments by reducing the need for precise keyword entry
- Native voice-to-text dictation enables hands-free querying, supporting users with limited mobility or for whom typing is difficult
- AI-generated responses are presented in structured, bulleted format with clear section organization to support screen reader navigation and cognitive accessibility
- Citations are linked to their source evidence, with programmatic labels that identify their purpose to assistive technologies
- Follow-up question suggestions are provided as discrete, labeled interactive elements rather than free-form text
- Much of the functionality is accessible via assistive technology gestures and external keyboard navigation

ClinicalKey AI generates responses using a clinician-in-the-loop framework and real-time citation validation, drawing from copyright-cleared, evidence-based content. Users are encouraged to review cited sources for primary evidence. Where AI-generated formatting (such as bulleted summaries) is used, programmatic structure is implemented to support screen reader navigation of generated content.
The ClinicalKey AI mobile app provides access to full-text journals, medical reference texts, clinical practice guidelines, and cited source content. Some PDF documents, images, and multimedia content may not yet be fully accessible to assistive technology users. We are working to improve the accessibility of downloadable materials.
