Last updated on August 15, 2024
Some words are not included in a Scopus search and are ignored when a search query is run. While they may add clarity to text, they are ignored by Scopus and make a search more efficient.
Examples of words which are ignored during a Scopus search include the following items:
- Personal pronouns (such as we, they)
- Most articles (such as the, an)
- Most forms of the verb to be (such as been, being, is, was)
- Some conjunctions (such as because, if, when)
If you would like to include these words within your Scopus search, you must enclose them in brackets or double quotation marks.
