Why can QS Locations and Partners names be different from the SciVal ones?

Last updated on February 16, 2026

Locations and Partners names and metrics are provided by QS and displayed without changes.

The definition of institutions in QS differs from that in SciVal, which may lead to slight differences when looking at Partners names and metrics.

Similarly, within the Locations list, QS considers some countries or regions as disputed territories and yields a special code for those.

In SciVal rankings pages such territories are named as Other territory 1, Other territory 2 and Other territory 3.

Scholarly output by locations is not displayed as it is not directly related to the indicator.
