• The Journals & Books Browse page on ScienceDirect
• The search functionality on ScienceDirect
• Web search (e.g., Google)

Please note: Subscribed-access articles included in the pilot will display with title/abstract/metadata, whereas open access articles will be fully displayed on ScienceDirect for everyone. If you have a subscription, access the subscribed-access articles by selecting 'View PDF'.

Why are you doing this?

Literature review is a very time-intensive process; staying up to date in a field of study can be a real challenge, and it is highly important to find trustworthy information. Through regular user testing, researchers tell us that it would help if we partnered with other publishers to include their important journals on ScienceDirect — that it would make it easier to navigate the sea of research out there on a trusted platform with high quality standards.  

Will more articles be added?

The plan is that all content from the participating journals dating back to 2015 will be included and we will publish new content as our syndication partners send it to us.

Where can I go to browse the content available on ScienceDirect as part of the pilot?

Will content be included in Topic Pages?

Participating publisher content will not be included in the Topic page snippets. We do have a dedicated "From other publishers" recommender on all topic pages.

Can I submit to one of the journals from other publishers on ScienceDirect directly?

There will be basic information about the journal included on ScienceDirect, but links to journal information will point to the Journal home page on the original publishers’ platform. Authors are to submit to the original journal publisher, not through ScienceDirect unless it is for an Elsevier journal.

Elsevier cannot update content from other publishers. Any issues must be addressed to them directly.

Can I set up an alert for journals from other publishers?

The alert functionality on ScienceDirect is not available for non-elsevier journals, but it could be the publisher offers this functionality on their own site.
