- The top facet type’s default state will be expanded on subsequent searches
- The newly ordered facet panel will stick until (a) registered user changes the order again, or until a user clears cookies
- DIPPR Project 801 Now Includes 2021 Updates
- Keeping this valuable database up-to-date, helps users who use this critical information have access to the most current data.
- 18 new compounds were added to the database. The Quick Substance lookup will not reflect this update for a period.
- New Isocorrosion Graph Viewer Added to Knovel Corrosion
- For users subscribing to Knovel Corrosion, a new Graph Viewer for Isocorrosion Curves was added.
- Isocorrosion graphs are a way of showing consistent corrosion rates over a range of temperature and concentration conditions. They fill gaps in spot data, and help users identify unique conditions with outlier corrosion rates that could otherwise be missed when only looking at specific conditions.
- 350 isocorrosion graphs have been added to Knovel Corrosion.
- The new viewer supports getting data from any curve in the graph without having to pre-select it. It also supports unit conversion, export, and zooming.
- New Engineering Overview of Batteries and Energy Storage
- From powering onboard computers and sensors to replacing internal combustion engines with electric motors, storing intermittent renewable energy to selecting the right battery chemistries for the application, there’s an increasing need for engineers to understand existing and emergent energy storage technologies. This Engineering Overview was created to help users identify the types of information available on Knovel.
- Improved Search Performance
- Users have busy lives and expect things to move fast in today’s “every second counts” digital world. The quality of the search experience is not only measured by the relevancy of the results, but also by the speed in which those results are returned. Knovel search results are, for most queries, now returned visibly faster.
- Bugs around Save Search Query
- There have been a few Bugs around saving Search Queries to My Knovel that have been fixed.
- Material Property Search Card
- When users enter materials with a property in a general search, we recognize this and present the Material Property Search card, as opposed to having to build a data query directly from the Property Search page.
- Improved Complex and Advanced Search Queries
- Queries (such as those seen below) that combine AND, OR, NOT (between fields, across fields, or in Free-Text/Global), as well as those that used parentheses to group portions of a query are interpreted better and more reliably. This will support Users wanting to combine Advanced Search fields, build a query with multiple Boolean operators or groupings in either Advanced Search or Global Search should be able to depend on our ability to correctly parse and interpret that query.
- Admin Center Emailed Reports
- Customer Admins requesting emailed Resources Reports will now receive XLSX files as an attachment, an upgrade from XLS format and external links.
- Content Updates
- Patty’s Industrial Hygiene 7th edition added
- The Bible of Industrial Hygiene
Since the first edition in 1948, this book has become a flagship publication for Wiley. During its nearly seven decades in print, it has become a standard reference for the fields of occupational health and toxicology. - Log4j Vulnerability Fix
- Log4Shell (CVE-2021-44228) was a zero-day vulnerability in Log4j, a popular Java logging framework, involving arbitrary code execution. The vulnerability has existed unnoticed since 2013 and was privately disclosed to the Apache Software Foundation, of which Log4j is a project, by Chen Zhaojun of Alibaba Cloud's security team on November 24, 2021, and was publicly disclosed on December 09, 2021.
- Knovel immediately mitigated updating our code base to remove this vulnerability once it was made public.
- Search Filters in Breadcrumbs
The Search breadcrumb will now reflect not only your query, but any facet selections which have been applied to the query such as Content Type, Concept or Date.

We have added the cover image of Technical References on the Search Results page as a visually quick way to identify a Title if you do not know the name but do know what the cover image looks like.
- Auto Unit Conversion within Tables
For the Unit Converter directly embedded within Tables, previously, you had to click '[OK]' for the change to take effect. Now, simply clicking on the new Unit will immediately convert the unit for you. The Unit selection window is also now freely movable on the page.

- If you’ve downloaded it in the past and it is working, it may eventually stop working and there will be no additional updates to resolve Bugs or issues.
- New Discovery Service/Catalog User Experience – Book Results
- Users who access Knovel through a Discovery Service (EDS, Summon, TDNet) or a customer catalog using MARC records were previously taken to Knovel's Table of Contents page of the selected book.

- You can now change the unit of measurement directly within a Table by clicking on the toggle.
If you are not satisfied with the results, you can revert to the original values by switching the toggle off.
- Embedding Knovel resource lists in an LMS or website
- Most academic curricula are organized using a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle. These LMS are where students go to access reading materials, instructional material, check schedules, take assessments, etc. Being able to take a list of resources built in Knovel and embed it in the LMS encourages educators to integrate Knovel resources into their classes increasing usage and stickiness.
- Step by step instructions for embedding this code in Blackboard, Canvas and Moodle are included in the Promotional Toolkit.
- Knovel provides an easy way for educators and collaborators to build resource lists for classes, projects, and trainings.
- Sharing these lists is as easy as sending someone a link.
- If you want to embed the list in a website or LMS, Knovel provides a simple HTML version of the folder item list for embedding in an LMS or website.
- From My Knovel, select a folder, and click the 'Export for LMS' button to open a window with the simple HTML code. Either select and copy the code or click the 'Copy to Clipboard' button to copy the code to the clipboard.
- Paste the code in HTML format to your LMS to add the folder items to your curriculum (see these instructions for Blackboard, Canvas, and Moodle.) Users can follow the Knovel link from the top of the list to add the folder to their My Knovel, even without a registered account.
- New My Folder/Save workflow
- New 'Save' experience brings the saved items into the workflow of the user as they’re researching on Knovel. Lists can now be built contextually as the research is performed, and can be used to navigate the saved items and folders without having to return to My Knovel.
- New 'My Folder' button in left toolbar will open the 'Save' panel.
- When on a page where there's content or a search that can be saved, you can add the item or search term by clicking 'Add this Resource'.
- The panel can be repositioned anywhere on the page by dragging it from its top bar and putting it where you want it to go. This is useful if the user wants the panel open, but it's blocking the piece of content they’re referring to.
Easier sharing, with registered and unregistered Knovel users
- Share an item using the Share button from any Search page, Contents, or while viewing any piece of content.
- At the top is a short link that can be simply copied and sent to others, which will bring them to the shared item.
- From within the My Folder panel there is an option get a sharable link which will share the entire folder and all items in it with others, including Knovel subscribers without a registered account.
