What are the Engineering Village database search codes?

In Quick and Expert search you can specify which database(s) you want to include in your search queries by selecting them in the ‘Databases’ tab or by refining your preference(s) using the ‘Databases’ facet on the Search results page. Additionally, you may search the specific database search codes via an Expert search.
- At the top of the Engineering Village page, select ‘Search.’ The ‘Search’ menu opens.
- Scroll down to select ‘Quick search.’ The ‘Quick’ search form opens.
- Click the databases link under the search boxes. The ‘Available databases’ flyout menu opens.
- Click the appropriate toggle switch to select all available databases or the individual database(s) you want to include in your Quick search query. A message confirming your database selection displays at the bottom right side of the page.
- If you want to select an additional database, click the appropriate toggle switch. A message confirming your additional database selection is displayed at the bottom of the page.
- Enter your search query in the Quick search box(es) as applicable.
- Click ‘Search.’ The search string located above the search results displays the databases you have selected.
- At the top of the Engineering Village page, select ‘Search.’ The ‘Search’ menu opens.
- Scroll down to select ‘Expert search.’ The ‘Expert’ search form opens.
- From the ‘Databases’ tab, select the database(s) you want to include in your search query.
- Enter your search query in the Expert search box as applicable.
- Click the magnifying glass icon. The Document results display the databases you have selected.
- At the top of the Engineering Village page, select ‘Search.’ The ‘Search’ menu opens.
- Scroll down to select ‘Expert search.’ The ‘Expert’ search form opens.
- Using the Databases search codes chart displayed below, enter the specific database code(s) that you want to include in your search query.
- Refer to the Expert search examples beneath the Database search codes chart to structure your search query.
- Conduct a Quick or Expert search. The Document results page displays.
- From the ‘Database’ facet, limit or exclude your search results to specific database(s).
- Select ‘Limit to’ or ‘Exclude’ as applicable. The Document results page refreshes with your revised database search query.
- Refer to the Databases search codes chart below to view the search codes displayed in your revised search query.

Conduct a search query for networks located in the TITLE (TI) field contained in either the Compendex or GEOBASE databases as follows:

Conduct a search query for “industrial sewing machines” located in the ABSTRACT (AB) field contained in the Patents Plus database as follows:
