How do I view Inspec references?
Last updated on July 16, 2025
The Inspec references refer to information used to publish an Inspec document. They may include the article title, associated authors who published the referenced title, the source title, volume, issue, page, and publication year information.
These Inspec references display on the ‘Inspec References’ tab on the left side of the record page.
How
Click a section below to see further instructions.
- Conduct an Inspec search using the Quick or Expert search forms.
- Within the Inspec result list, click a document’s title to view the document. The Inspec record page opens.
- From the left side of the page, click ‘Inspec references.’ The total number of Inspec references for this document is displayed in a bubble next to the link. The ‘Inspec References’ accordion section opens for display on the record page.
Note: Not all Inspec documents have Inspec references.
The Inspec references contain the following information (as available):
- document title
- author name(s)
- source title or source title abbreviation
- volume
- issue
- page
- publication year
Note: References on the ‘Inspec references’ page may not contain complete publishing information.
Some Inspec references contain clickable titles so that you may access and review these documents.
- From the ‘Inspec references’ section of the record page, if a document title contains a link, you may access this document to see further information.
- Click the document title and Engineering Village will retrieve this document and display its corresponding record page.
Note: There will be no title link generated for the reference if there is no document title available or if there is no corresponding record page for the reference in Inspec. Additionally, some Inspec references display ‘No title available.’ as the title may become available later and the record is retrieved.
