How can I work with Affiliation search results?
Last updated on March 20, 2026
You can work with your affiliation search results in many ways. Affiliation search results list profiles from the authors' affiliations. These profiles contain the affiliations' preferred names as well as the variant names used in their published documents.
Note: Only affiliations listed in Compendex records are available via Affiliation search. Your institution must be subscribed to the Compendex database, and the Affiliation search must be enabled for your institution to access this feature.
How
Select a topic below to find out more about how to work with Affiliation search results.
- Click the ‘Search’ tab at the top of any Engineering Village page.
- Scroll down and click ‘Affiliation.’ A new Affiliation search page opens.
- Run a new Affiliation search.
Edit your search terms as needed in the ‘Affiliation name’ box and click the magnifying glass search icon to run the search.
The Display dropdown above the search results allows you to specify how many Affiliation results you would like to display per page.
The default is 25; you can increase this total to 50 or 100. You may change this default option on the ‘Results’ tab of the My preferences page.
To change the default number for this session, from the ‘Display’ label, click the number ‘25’ or the down arrow, and select either ‘50’ or ‘100’ from the dropdown. The page refreshes with the new number of results displayed. Your new setting stays throughout your session, regardless of how many searches you run, until you end your session.
Count (DESC) – (total number of Compendex records in descending frequency order) is the default sort method. Additionally, you may choose to sort your results using one of the methods listed below by selecting the desired option from the ‘Sort by:’ dropdown list located above the search results.
- Count (ASC) - (Ascending)
- Relevance
- Affiliation (A-Z and Z-A)
