eBooks+ Accessibility Statement
Last updated on May 07, 2025At eBooks+ we are dedicated to ensuring our digital library is accessible and welcoming to all, including people with disabilities. Our commitment to accessibility reflects our belief that everyone should have equal access to the knowledge and resources available on our platform.
Our goal is to adhere to the European Accessibility Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, established by the World Wide Web Consortium. These guidelines are designed to improve the accessibility of web content across a range of devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones, enhancing the usability of eBooks+ content for all users.
Customers may download the VPAT Accessibility Conformance Report to see compliance with specific guidelines.
Select the options below to find out more information on each topic:
eBooks+ presents most of the educational content as videos with accompanying audio and closed captions (CC).
Learners have control over video playback options: they can pause, play, toggle captions, switch to full-screen mode, and adjust playback speed. A picture-in-picture feature also allows learners to use other website functions along with watching video.
In addition to videos, eBooks+ offers supplementary content as "Notes," which is now available for migrated Inkling users only. Learners can navigate conveniently through the list of all existing notes and use search or look at notes for a specific chapter.
The eBooks+ website features a responsive design, adjusting smoothly to various screen sizes. Users can use their browser’s zoom function to increase the size of the text. Additionally, we support alternative interaction methods with our app to enhance accessibility.
The majority of eBooks+ content is structured to support screen readers and other assistive technologies. Content is programmatically structured with semantic labels for forms and controls, although a few areas are under review for further accessibility improvements.
eBooks+ offers intuitive navigation with clearly labelled links and consistent global navigation across pages. Unique page titles enhance orientation, tabbed browsing, and bookmarking.
Learners can interact with the website using their keyboard. Additionally, they can interact with a video player using the following shortcuts:
- [space] / [enter] - play/pause
- [←] / [→] - rewind/forward 10s
Our mobile and desktop apps, available on Google Play (Android), the App Store (iOS) and Microsoft Store (Windows), support ebooks, bookmarks, highlights/notes creation and read-along feature. Learners can also download ebooks for offline access.
