What Therapy Areas are Available?
Last updated on November 05, 2025
Whilst having all data is useful, to understand your research landscape you may end up paying for data you don’t need and end up struggling to hone in on the items of interest.
However, if you limit your data set by journal titles in a particular area of interest then you can potentially miss out on articles published outside these journals, which may be of great relevance and lead to new discoveries.
Rather than rely on journal titles, Elsevier have created therapeutic area subsets based on the content of each article. So users have the choice for the whole of Life Sciences or Specific TAs.
At present there are 10 Therapy Areas:
- Cardiovascular
- Dermatology
- Digestive System
- Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
- Immunology & Inflammation
- Infection & Vaccines
- Nervous System
- Oncology
- Ophthalmology
- Respiratory
- ALL Life Sciences
Content in the Therapy subsets are defined by the following query criteria:
- Full coverage of core journals in that TA
- Articles tagged within the corresponding INDICATION, DRUG and HGNCGENE (validated targets) taxonomies
This means that articles in highly specialized, as well as broad higher-impact journals like The Lancet and Cell will be included in each TA.
