How long does SSRN’s review process take?
Last updated on October 21, 2025
SSRN is committed to maintaining complete and trustworthy content. We encourage authors to provide comprehensive author and paper metadata and to adhere to high publication ethical standards. During the review process, submissions will have an Under Review by SSRN watermark and will be marked as Submitted, Preliminary Upload, or may temporarily drop from your My Papers page.
Most submissions are posted within 3 business days, and we strive to process all quickly. You will receive an email notification once the review is complete or if we require any additional information. Delays in processing are typically caused by one of the following reasons noted below. If you have not heard from us within 10 business days, please contact the Support Team.
Several factors can influence the review timeline, including:
- Incomplete Submission: Missing required files, information, or documentation.
- Formatting Issues: Non-compliance with formatting guidelines or technical errors.
- High Volume of Submissions: Conference submissions and the academic calendar can influence the volume of submissions.
- Verification Processes: Verify any competing interests and confirm author identities.
- Compliance Checks: Ensuring adherence to ethical, legal, or journal-specific policies.
- Legal or Rights Clearance: Confirming permissions for copyrighted material.
Impact makers need reliable, high-quality information to help them advance their fields with confidence. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to uphold the highest standards of rigor and ethics to ensure the reliability and integrity of research.
