What is the TLS upgraded security technology?

As part of a global effort to improve security and privacy for customers across our products, Elsevier is upgrading the Scopus product to TLS v1.2.
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a more advanced technology designed to provide privacy and data integrity between two communicating computer applications.
TLS v1.2 is the most recent version of this technology.
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), an influential developer of voluntary internet standards, has now prohibited the use of SSL and has urged providers to migrate to the later versions of Transport Layer Security (TLS).
By mid-July 2019, Scopus will implement the TLS v1.2 upgrade.
Customers using older versions of OCLC’s EZProxy service will be impacted.
The rollout of the new TLS v1.2 technology will not impact institutions using modern browsers but, as with the HTTPS migration, a very few customers may experience problems.
Customers using OCLC’s EZProxy service will need to ensure they are using a recent version (v6.1.16 or later) of the product to avoid disruption to their access.
The latest iteration of EZProxy (v6.3.5) will provide the best performance.
EZProxy customers can download the latest version of the product from OCLC’s Support & Training page, and/or contact OCLC support for practical assistance.
Most modern browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge support TLS v1.2. To avoid any issues, update your browser to the most recent version.
