What is the Scopus Affiliation Identifier?

The Affiliation Identifier distinguishes between affiliations by assigning each institution with publications in Scopus a unique number and grouping together the documents affiliated with that organization.

This feature is useful for distinguishing between institutions with similar names, and in combining work from institutions that have been cited differently by authors or across time.

You can search using the Scopus Affiliation Identifier from the Affiliation, Author, and Advanced search forms.

For an advanced search, you can search using an affiliation ID with the code:

• AF-ID (eight-digit ID number)

Follow these steps to find the unique affiliation identifier for an institution:

1. Conduct an Affiliation search.
2. From the drop-down, or on the search results page, select the institution. The Affiliation details page opens, showing the affiliation ID.
