Welcome to ScienceDirect's Using Personalized Features tutorial.
When you are signed in to ScienceDirect, personalized features and additional functionality are available to you.
Features include:
- Personalized recommendations
- Reading history
- Journal, book series, & search alerts
- Article purchases & purchase history
- Citation exports
- Multiple PDF downloads
Let's look at some of these features now.
Personalized recommendations are articles related to your recent sign-in ScienceDirect activity.
Recommended articles are sent to your email account.
To access your personalized recommendations, select your username and then select My recommendations.
Your most recent personalized recommendations are listed here.
Select a document title to open the full-text or abstract content in ScienceDirect.
Select a journal or book title to go to the journal or book home page in ScienceDirect.
Stay signed in to ScienceDirect so we can recommend more articles that may pertain to your research.
We will email you a list of recommended articles weekly, based on your recent signed-in ScienceDirect activity.
Next, let's look at reading history.
When you are signed in to ScienceDirect, the articles you read are added to your reading history page.
To access your reading history, select your username and then select My history.
Your reading history page lists up to 100 documents you have recently read in ScienceDirect and the most recent date and time you read them.
Select a document title to access the article or chapter in ScienceDirect.
Select the journal or book title to access the journal or book home page in ScienceDirect.
You can view the document as a PDF.
To preview the article, select Abstract.
To close the abstract, select Abstract again.
You can download your reading history in .CSV format.
You can delete a document from your reading history.
To quickly remove all the documents listed in your reading history, select Clear all.
Deleted reading history cannot be recovered.
If you have previously made article purchases in ScienceDirect via the shopping cart (credit card), the Purchased articles link is available.
Purchase history includes links to the articles and PDFs that are still available for download.
Select Show receipt to access and print the purchase receipt.
This is a valid receipt for your records or submission to your organization for reimbursement.
To review or modify your stored alerts, select your username and then select Manage alerts.
Links are available to access the appropriate areas in which alerts can be added, modified, or deleted.
