How do I work with documents cited in Scopus?
Last updated on August 26, 2025
The ‘Metrics’ section of the Engineering Village record page contains two Scopus items:
- Scopus Citations
- Scopus Authors
All Engineering Village users have access to Scopus, regardless of their Scopus subscription status. Non-subscribers of Scopus can view all articles on the Scopus ‘Preview’ page with limited functionality. You can work further with your data in Scopus according to your institution's subscription status.
Note: In addition to Scopus Citations and Authors, the ‘Metrics’ section of the record page also contains PlumX Metrics. These PlumX Metrics are also located in Scopus documents.
Scopus ‘Citations’ display in the ‘Metrics’ section of the record page. The number above the ‘Citations’ label represents the total number of times that the Engineering Village document has been cited in Scopus.
- Click the linked number above the ‘Citations’ label. The Scopus ‘Cited by’ results page opens.
- Click the linked title of a document to open it in Scopus.
If the Engineering Village document is not cited by any documents in Scopus, the ‘Citations’ label does not display.
Note: The databases for which Scopus Citations are available are the following:
- Chimica
- Compendex
- GEOBASE
- GeoRef
- Inspec
- PaperChem
Scopus Authors display in the ‘Metrics’ section of the record page. The number above the ‘Authors’ label represents the total number of authors of the Engineering Village document that have Scopus author details available.
- Click the linked number above the Author label. The ‘Authors’ pop-up window opens.
- Click a linked author's name. The Author details page for the author opens in Scopus.
- The Author details page displays the following information as available in the Scopus Author profile:
- Author's full name
- Author's affiliated organization
- Author ID (labeled as Scopus ID)
- ORCID iD
- Metrics overview
- Documents
- Impact
- Cited by
- Preprints
- Co-authors
- Topics
If the Engineering Village document is not associated with any author profile documents in Scopus, the ‘Authors’ label will not be displayed.
Click Scopus under the ‘Metrics’ label in the ‘Metrics’ section of the record page to open a new window to view information about Scopus. If there are no Scopus citations or authors in the document, this ‘Scopus’ label will not be displayed.
